Brian Kamara Willis was born somewhere in the Northern Territory in 1953 or 1954 – he never quite knew where or when – of an Aboriginal mother and a white father. He was one of the Stolen Generations, taken as a very young child to Adelaide, to a childhood of institutions and foster homes where he never settled.
